Year according to the Hindu calendar. To celebrate it, people go to the bank of
a canal or river near their village or town in the morning and have a dip in
the water. It is considered to be very holy to bath at the river on that day.
The day is anxiously look forward and immensely enjoyed by people of all
religions. Schools, colleges and offices are closed to allow people to enjoy
the day. On this day, the cultivators begin to work of reaping their harvests.
The hearts of farmers leap up with joy, when they behold the rich crops shining
in the bright rays of the early April morning sun. They celebrate the day by
dancing and by holding horse races and wrestling bouts.
